Wow. LONG time no post. I'm not dead, however, I've just been busy as shit. First I had to grade a bunch of finals, then I had to take a bunch of finals. That shit kind of takes a lot out of you. Now I'm on winter break, however, so back to reviewing music.
Sorry about the lack of updates. I've got a few reviews in the pipeline, but I've been busy as hell grading papers and writing papers.
In the meantime, I strongly, strongly suggest you watch this:
First, read this.
Second, I've never really liked The Smiths that much. Sure, they have a few good songs, and I do a killer Morrisey impression (which I'm sure Ryan and Brendan would say just sounds like a stereotypical Italian guy), but they've never been a big favorite of mine.
Third, that's a great fucking read.

Today I'm going to take a look at two pretty straightforward metal EPs. The first is "Beware the Circling Fin," the new release from Early Man.
I saw early man over the summer and they absolutely killed. I've been waiting for this EP ever since.

Today I'm going to be giving a listen to two heavy, instrumental bands whose names begin with C- Conifer and Caldera.

So I've been fucking busy lately, hence, little in the way of updates. I saw Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, Belphegor, and The Asbence, which kicked ass, I had a whole bunch of shit to do for school, and a presentation to give at a conference. I'm back, now, though, with a slightly more open schedule, and I'm going to give a quick review to Kowloon Walled City's "Turk Street" EP.
So while staring at Hyatari's MySpace page and rocking out to the awesome song from their totally hypothetical new album which apparently is never coming out, much to my continued chagrin, I glanced up and saw a banner add that seemed to good to be true.
"That can't be what that is..." thought I.
Oh, it fucking can.

So the new Amon Amarth record sure doesn't need me to review it. I'm sure that metal blade has a whole team of long-haired, jackbooted goons to push this record into the homes of everyone who even sort of sort of likes metal from here to Taiwan with methods normally associated with the fucking Khmer Rouge*.
Having said that, I'm going to go ahead and review this record anyway, because it kicks ass and I'm going to see them in five days or so and I'm pretty psyched.
I've seen a few other people make the comparison, but just so we're crystal fucking clear on this one:
This:
is better than this:
So the new Amon Amarth record is out next week, which is awesome. In the meantime, here's their new video:
Okay.
Okay.
Clearly, we have a new best video ever.
Let's go through the checklist:
-Beards? Check.
-Axes? Check.
