Who the fuck are these assholes, anyways?
This is a music review blog. The content is created by Ryan and Todd. The idea to put this together grew out of discussions we had been having about cynical music reviewers. The internet is a double edged sword in that it lowers the barrier for getting your opinions about the world out to people. On one hand, this is great. It democratizes the flow of information and ideas. On the other hand, it means that every jackass can whine about how much music sucks.
Both of us really like music. We like listening to it. We like talking about it. We like playing it. Our plan is to review music we like in an effort to get people interested in things we think deserve your attention. We're hoping to serve as sort of a counterweight to the cynicism that the internet is awash with.
Here are our rules for ourselves:
1) We'll never complain about how hard it is to have to listen to music for reviews. There's really nothing more annoying that music reviewers who complain about being a music reviewer. If we don't like writing reviews, we'll just stop. We won't whine.
2) We'll try to give every band we review a fair shot no matter what label they're on, what ex-members they have, etc. The reverse is true as well. We don't care if you're total no-names.
3) We won't complain that "there are too many bands that sound like this" or any of that kind of b.s. when reviewing a record. We know most bands aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. They're just trying to have some fun playing music they like. We'll try and let the records be what they are, not what we think they should be.
4) We won't review anything we're not somehow qualified to review. In other words, being that we know nothing whatsoever about, say, reggae, we won't review any reggae records. That would be stupid.
Here are our rules for you:
1) MOST IMPORTANT RULE- If you want us to review your band please e-mail us and send us somewhere we can check out mp3s and lyrics. Then we'll let you know if we're interested. We're not trying to be jerks, but please see rule #4 above. We don't want to waste your time if your record isn't something we're really going to be into.
2) If we review your band and you post a comment whining about our review we reserve the right to make fun of you, and encourage others to do so as well. Whine on your website, not ours.
3) It's fine if you have an internet-only release. However, if it's a release on tangible format (CD or vinyl), we would appreciate a physical copy.
4) Please do not send us any stupid promo shots of your band or a one-sheet telling us how awesome you are. We don't care what you look like and our ears are perfectly capable of deciding if you're awesome or not without a one-sheet telling us that. If you break this rule we reserve the right to post your pictures and/or one sheet and make fun of them.
5) Please no overtly Christian, homophobic, sexist, or racist music. Sorry, but all that stuff is just not our thing.
6) Try not to be a complete asshole.

The name of the blog, by the way, comes from a Palatka song. Palatka were a great band and if anyone wants to put out a discography of their stuff and send us two free copies we'd be happy to write rave reviews for it. Just a suggestion.
PS- If we happen to post an mp3 of your band or a band on your label, or something, and you don't want it here just politely let us know and we'll be happy to take it down. We'll take them down after a month or so, either way.
PPS- In the interest of full disclosure, we both play in the band Angel Eyes. I only mention this so you can use it as the basis for discrediting any of our opinions.
